So I've waited several month's to finally write this review. I wanted to use the equipment for awhile and give an honest review. I ordered the Hoist Mi7 Smith and Functional Trainer with optional 200 pound stacks, along with the Hoist FID bench, leg curl/extension, preacher curl, and accessory rack. The quality of this Hoist stuff is top notch. Everything is very well made, heavy duty, and comes with all polished stainless steel hardware which is a really nice touch. This is commercial quality in your home. Make no doubt about it. You'll know it as soon as you try picking up one of the boxes. It's heavy duty and built for life. The cable's are the smoothest I've ever used in any gym. They glide like silk and are noiseless. The plates have a "donut cushion" in between each and every plate so there's no noise whatsoever when you lower the cables to finish your set. You won't have any loud banging whatsoever. The adjustable cable levers for moving the cable from floor to ceiling is super quick and easy. Changing accessories is also simple and quick. The pull up and dip stations are excellent and heavy duty. I absolutely love using both and for newbies and people who don't have the strength to lift or dip their own body weigh, that's no problem at all. Hoist includes a 4" belt that you attach to both weight stacks which you can adjust to offer you anywhere from 10 pounds all the way up to 200 pounds of assistance. It works great !!! My two daughters use it all the time and they love it. The ability to change from "narrow" to "wide" grip and the various bars, "rock grips", are all great. When it comes to the "multi - axis Smith machine", there's simply no comparison to the standard 2 axis Smith Machines you'll find at most gyms. Being able to move, not just straight up and down, but forward and backwards makes this machine unique and so much better. It's much more "natural" and puts significantly less stress on your joints and tendons. This Smith machine allows you to do any exercise in the correct, most natural planes. Be that bench press, squatting, shoulder press, you name it. In fact, you can do lunges, skull crushers (for triceps), and curls with this Smith machine because the bar rotates 360'. It's simply amazing what this multi - axis allows !!!! This is the best home Smith machine because of the amount of exercises it enables you to do, and SAFELY. I cannot say enough about this Smith Machine. Once you use it, you'll be amazed at all the different exercises you'll be able to do and they feel like your doing them with a "free weight barbell" because you still have to stabilize the bar because it moves in multi-axis. On a standard 2 axis Smith machine the bar is stationary so you only have to push up. This allows you to go heavier but limits your free range of motion and puts undue stress on both tendons and joints. Plus, you can't do a fraction of the exercises that this multi-axis Smith Machine allows you to do. Once you start using it, you'll find new exercises you never ever thought were possible on a Smith Machine. This equipment is not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. I knew if I bought a budget functional trainer I'd be disappointed using it and would probably end up going to the gym instead. I've been using this equipment, along with a few other pieces of Hoist equipment, and barbells and dumbells now for three month's. I have zero desire or need to join a gym. This Hoist equipment is better than what i was using in most of the gyms I've been too. I still have a lot of new exercises I want to try out and I keep finding new ways to employ this Mi7 Smith and Functional Trainer. If you're on the fence and unsure about whether it's worth the money, trust me, it is. You will not be disappointed. Lastly, Hoist customer service is every bit as good as the equipment they manufacture and sell. I had a few questions with regard to assembly and I was able to speak with a tech guy who walked me through what I was doing wrong and how to correct it. I had to call several times and every time I was able to get great help quickly.
